The Inter-Professional Program at Illinois Institute of Technology is aimed at providing students a platform for exploring a range of ambitious topics. Students of the Cybersecurity and Tech Entrepreneurship IPRO course tackled two widely recognized cybersecurity challenges in the Spring 2024 semester.
- Vigilant Vault is a product designed to tackle Devices security. The Vigilant Vault is a physical device that scans hosted internal networks for systems with factory default passwords and automatically changes them for enhancing security effortlessly with a seamless user experience.
- HawkPhish is a product designed to enhance online safety for businesses and individual users. The product safeguards users from potential cyber threats such as phishing and Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks targeting end users by offering real-time URL scanning and comprehensive threat analysis directly within the browser and onscreen actionable recommendations that are easily configurable, ensuring a seamless and non-invasive user experience while delivering robust security solutions tailored to the needs of various organizational sizes and types.

Wendy Betts, Former Director, United Airlines
Before her role at United Airlines, Wendy served as Senior Risk Manager at Bank of America, focusing on cybersecurity defense areas such as SOC, Malware, DDoS, and Cloud. Previously, at Northern Trust, she led the development of Secure SDLC and DevSecOps implementation in application development. Wendy maintains a strong presence in the technology sector, actively participating in organizations like ISSA, WiCyS, and Chief.
Xena Olsen, Threat Intelligence Manager, Financial Services Fortune 100
Dr. Xena Olsen is a cybersecurity professional focused on cyber threat intelligence at a Fortune 100 company. She enjoys discussing all things cyber threat intelligence and can be found in various threat intelligence sharing groups, such as Curated Intel. She is a SANS Women’s Academy graduate with 8 GIAC certifications, an MBA in IT Management, and a doctorate in Cybersecurity with a focus in Enterprise Purple Teaming.

Today, he focuses on developing a trustworthy AI risk management methodology that incorporates technology ethics and AI regulatory concerns when identifying and mitigating biases in the design, development, deployment, and use of SAS technology.

Most recently as Vice President and Chief Enterprise Architect at Danaher, Grant built their Architecture and Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Previously, Grant was the VP of Architecture at Walgreens Boots Alliance and held a similar role at Medtronic. Grant also built EA’s operations at Lowe’s Home Improvement and grew into leadership at General Mills. Grant is a Certified Coach, received his MBA from the Carlson School of Management, his BSCS from Washington University in St. Louis and he holds various board advisory roles out of Chicago, Illinois.
